Reproduction FAQs

1.     What currency is used on this website?

All prices are in Australian dollars.

2.     Is it possible to custom order my reproduction to a particular size / different medium?

Yes, absolutely. Reproductions can be printed to virtually any size you choose. If you don’t see the size you’re looking for in the standard options available, please contact hello@ianmastin.com with details of what you’re looking for.

Alternatively, if you would prefer your reproduction printed on a cotton finish paper (not canvas), this can easily be done. Just select the ‘rolled canvas’ option in the size you want, and add a note that you would like a paper reproduction. We will be in contact to clarify your order before printing. (NB. This is a better option if you’d prefer to frame your reproduction under glass.)

3.     How long will it take to receive my order?

All reproductions are printed to order and are express shipped within 14 business days. Once your order has been shipped, you will be provided with the tracking number. Please be aware that your order will require a signature on delivery.

Allow 1-4 business days for delivery (within Australia). Delivery times to international destinations vary between depending on your location.

4.     How will my reproduction arrive?

If you selected a rolled canvas, it will be sent rolled in acid-free cellophane and securely placed in an industrial strength, protective tube. If you selected a stretched canvas, it will arrive securely packaged and ‘ready to hang’.

5.     Will my reproduction look the same as the image I see on my screen?

The photograph images you see are of the highest professional standard; and bear a true likeness to the original painting. Please be aware that monitors can sometimes show a slight variation in colour, depending on how they are calibrated.

6.     How will the edges of my canvas appear?

Our preferred edging is a ‘mirror wrap’, which means that the image will continue around the sides of the stretched frame. This does not interfere with the original image size. Please note that unless specified, your canvas will be printed with a mirror edge.

Other options are white or black edging, which are available at no extra cost. If you have any questions or would like any advice on framing or a different edging choice, please contact us at hello@ianmastin.com and we will be happy to assist.

7.     What stretcher frame size is used? Can I frame my reproduction?

Canvases are stretched using standard 38mm stretcher rods. This thickness works very well if you intend to hang the canvas without a frame, or will add a ‘floating frame’. This is the size that will be used on all orders, unless you instruct differently.

However, if you plan to add a traditional frame over the top of the stretched canvas, it is advantageous to use a thinner 1.8mm stretcher frame. This will closely mimic the presentation of Ian’s original framed paintings (we recommend framing without glass). If you intend to add a traditional frame, please advise us at the time of ordering.

If you have any questions about this, please contact us at hello@ianmastin.com.

8.     What’s the difference between Open-Edition and Limited-Edition?

A limited-edition reproduction is available in strictly limited numbers. When that number of reproductions have been reached (for example 80), the edition is permanently sold out and will no longer available. Limited-edition reproductions are individually numbered and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Open edition prints, however, are available in unlimited numbers. They are not individually numbered, nor do they come with a certificate of authenticity. For this reason, they are usually offered at a significantly lower price than a limited-edition.

9.     What is the expected life of a fine art reproduction? Do they require special care?

The structure of the cotton and poly canvas fabric is of very high quality and provides maximum stability for stretching. Printed at 1200 x 2400 dots per inch with 12-colour Canon Lucia EX pigment ink, the quality of both the canvas and printing have been tested to last 100 years.

We recommend that you care for your reproductions the same as other originals or prints. Protect them from water and keep them away from direct sunlight.

10.   Where are your reproductions printed?

Currently, all reproductions are printed and shipped from Brisbane, Australia.

11.   What happens if I don’t like my reproduction when it arrives?

We offer a 7-day Satisfaction Guarantee. If your reproduction does not meet your expectations, please contact us at hello@ianmastin.com.

12.    What should I do if my artwork is damaged when it arrives?

Although damage is exceptionally rare, it can occur. As your reproduction will require a signature, it's important that you notify the courier making the delivery if there is a problem with the packaging. Please ensure that he/she makes a note BEFORE you accept the delivery. Please take photos of the damage (both the packaging and the product) so we can use these images when claiming from the courier company. We will provide a replacement at no cost to you.

13.   Can I re-use the digital images on this site?

No. Without exception, no image or portion of any image may be reused or copied without the express written permission of Ian Mastin. All artwork is subject to international copyright laws.
